Unnecessary waste significantly adds to the demand for energy by requiring more resources to produce, transport, and dispose of items that often end up in landfills. When products are thrown away prematurely—whether it's food, packaging, or electronics—the energy used in their manufacturing, distribution, and use is also wasted. For example, wasted food represents not just lost meals but the squandered energy used to grow, harvest, process, and refrigerate it. Additionally, managing waste through collection, transportation, and landfill operations consumes even more energy. By reducing unnecessary consumption and improving recycling and reuse efforts, society can lower energy demands and lessen the environmental impact of waste.
It is becoming more and more apparent that the government cannot be trusted to help us. We must take action ourselves. It has always been the people that make things happen. Governments have always made things worse.
