Poor farming practices significantly contribute to the Earth’s declining health by damaging soil, polluting water, and accelerating climate change. Overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides can degrade soil quality, kill beneficial organisms, and contaminate nearby rivers and groundwater. Monocropping—planting the same crop repeatedly—drains the soil of nutrients and increases vulnerability to pests and disease, leading to more chemical use. Unsustainable irrigation methods often waste water and cause salinization, making land infertile. Additionally, deforestation for agriculture destroys habitats and releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. These harmful practices threaten long-term food security and the health of ecosystems around the world.
It is becoming more and more apparent that the government cannot be trusted to help us. We must take steps ourself. It has always been the people that make things happen. Governments have always made things worse.
